Current data note: This review uses version 2.1 test-bench data and matches the current chart entry for the Fahren Termitor. It is the budget value pick first, with strong reflector output for the money and useful projector performance for the price.
The Fahren Termitor is the budget LED kit that makes you double-check the price after looking at the test results. It is not a premium LED kit, it does not have the brand reputation of Morimoto or GTR Lighting, and it does not come with a long warranty. At around $69, nobody should expect it to feel like a $240 kit.
But for the price, the measured output is very strong. In our reflector test, it measured 1273 lux on low beam and 2164 lux on high beam. In projector testing, it measured 575 lux on both low and high beam. Those are genuinely useful results for a kit in this price range.
That is why the Termitor makes sense as the budget-friendly LED pick. It gives price-conscious buyers a real upgrade path without jumping straight into the $200+ premium kits.
There are still tradeoffs. The color is a cool 6500K, so it is whiter and slightly bluer than 5000K to 5500K LEDs. The warranty is only 1 year. DRL behavior is still listed as N/A. And while reflector output is very strong, the beam pattern is not as refined as something like the Morimoto 2Stroke 4.0.
BulbFacts buys and tests products independently. Fahren did not send us this kit, pay for this review, or influence the results. We bought it, tested it, photographed it, and scored it using the same version 2.1 test process as the other LED kits in the chart.
Reflector Style Headlight Test Results
The Termitor is the budget value pick first, and its reflector output is the biggest surprise in the test data.
Reflector score
Above-reference reflector result with useful measured output. The 5.0 marker shows the reference point.
Reflector performance is where the Termitor earns its budget recommendation. Low beam measured 1273 lux, which is about a +241% increase over our standard halogen baseline.
High beam measured 2164 lux, or about +147% over halogen. Those are very strong numbers for a budget LED kit, and the low beam has enough hotspot and forward reach to feel like a real visibility upgrade instead of just a color change.
Glare measured 284 lux. That is higher than the cleanest reflector-focused LEDs, but acceptable for this output level and price. The 3/5 reflector beam rating means the beam is usable, but not as refined as a premium low-glare pick like the Morimoto 2Stroke 4.0.
That is the tradeoff. The Termitor gives you a lot of output for the money, but it does not have the same polished reflector beam shape as the best premium options. If you install it in a reflector housing, aim matters, and not every reflector housing will handle it the same way.
Projector Style Headlight Test Results
Projector housings are where many budget LEDs fall apart, but the Termitor handles them better than most in its class.
Projector score
Solid projector result for this product class. The 5.0 marker shows the reference point.
The Termitor also does well in projector headlights, especially for a budget kit. Projector low beam measured 575 lux, which is about a +150% increase over halogen. Projector high beam also measured 575 lux, or about +30%.
Those numbers are useful, but they are not at the level of the strongest projector performers like the DDM Saber Max 75W, GTR Ultra 3, or other top-output picks. This is still a budget recommendation, not a maximum-output projector kit.
The projector beam was controlled enough to be practical, with a defined shape, usable hotspot, and decent cutoff behavior. That is not always the case with budget LEDs, where projector housings can expose weak LED placement quickly.
If you want the best projector performance regardless of price, there are stronger choices. If the goal is a low-cost projector upgrade that still produces a clear improvement over halogen, the Termitor makes a lot of sense.
Kelvin, Lumens, And Output Stability
The Termitor combines a cool white color with realistic measured lumen output and very low power drop.
Fahren Termitor Kelvin
Fahren Termitor lumens
The Termitor measured 6500K in our color test. That puts it firmly in the cool-white range, with a brighter white look and a slight bluish tint compared with more neutral 5000K to 5500K LEDs.
It does not look wildly blue, but it is definitely cooler than kits like the GTR Ultra 3 or Morimoto 2Stroke 4.0. Some people like that crisp white look; others may prefer a warmer or more neutral color, especially for rain, snow, fog, or wet pavement.
Measured lumen output was strong at 9720 lumens per kit, or 4860 lumens per bulb. Lumen numbers do not tell the full story by themselves, but in this case the lux results support the claim. The Termitor did not just measure high lumens in open air; it also produced strong output in both reflector and projector testing.
Output stability was excellent. From the 2-minute mark to the 30-minute mark, output dropped only 1.5%. That is a great result for any LED kit, and especially good for a budget one. It does not prove long-term lifespan by itself, but stable output and controlled heat are encouraging signs.
LED Chips, Power, CANBUS, Temperature, And Noise
The Termitor uses fan cooling, an external driver, and a narrow LED layout that helps keep the beam focused.
Measured draw
30-min temp
Fan noise
The Termitor does not list the exact LED chip model, but the physical layout is narrow and flat, which helps keep the beam more focused than many budget LED designs.
Each bulb uses 6 LEDs, with 12 total per kit. The beam direction is flat, and the H7 version tested was rotatable in 1-degree increments. That adjustability is useful because LED orientation can make a big difference in beam shape.
Power draw measured 42.5 watts per bulb. That is fairly strong for the price and helps explain the output numbers. This is not one of those low-power budget LEDs that looks impressive in product photos but barely loads the headlight circuit.
Temperature measured 125°F / 52°C during testing, which is well controlled. Fan noise measured 63 dB, which is audible on the bench but reasonable for this output and price. Once installed, the fans should be hard to notice in most vehicles.
The Termitor uses an external driver, so installation is not quite as simple as a small all-in-one LED bulb. The external driver measured 58 x 30 x 14 mm, so you will want to make sure there is room behind the headlight for the bulb, driver, wiring, and dust cap.
CANBUS behavior is listed as CANBUS-friendly in current chart. That is a nice plus for a budget LED kit. It does not guarantee perfect compatibility with every vehicle, but the Termitor behaved well enough in testing to earn the CANBUS-friendly note.
DRL, Lifespan, Warranty, Cost, And Final Thoughts
The Termitor is not a luxury LED kit, but the mix of low price, strong output, stable output, controlled heat, quiet fan noise, and CANBUS-friendly behavior makes it one of the better budget values.
Coverage
DRL and high-beam dimming behavior are still listed as N/A. Fahren may market the kit as DRL-compatible, but reduced-voltage and PWM daytime running light systems vary a lot by vehicle. Until that is fully confirmed, we are keeping the chart data conservative.
Lifespan is also listed as N/A for now. The cool running temperature and excellent 1.5% output stability are both encouraging, but we are not assigning a lifespan rating until there is enough long-term data to support it.
The Termitor comes with a 1-year warranty, which is typical for a budget LED kit. That is one of the bigger differences between the Termitor and premium options like Morimoto or GTR Lighting.
Pricing usually lands around $69, with sales sometimes dropping it lower. At that price, value is the main selling point.
The Termitor is not trying to feel like a premium LED kit. It is trying to give you a lot of usable output for not much money. Based on the test results, it does that very well.
The main reasons to buy it are simple: it is affordable, bright for the money, strong in reflectors for the price, usable in projectors, stable, cool-running, fairly quiet, and CANBUS-friendly in the current chart. The main reasons to skip it are also simple: 1-year warranty, cool 6500K color, less-refined reflector beam than premium low-glare options, DRL listed as N/A, and lifespan still listed as N/A.
If you want the cleanest reflector LED, the Morimoto 2Stroke 4.0 is better. If you want the strongest output, the DDM Saber Max 75W is better. If you want a premium overall pick, the GTR Ultra 3 is better. But if you want a budget LED kit that actually performs well in testing, the Fahren Termitor is one of the easiest low-cost kits to recommend.
