Top Recommended Halogen Kits*

  • Recommendations on Aftermarket Halogen Upgrade Kits

We've taken the guesswork out of choosing the best halogen kits by thoroughly testing a variety of products in our lab and on the road. Our team at BulbFacts has handpicked only the top-performing halogen kits that meet our strict testing standards and that we highly recommend. It's worth noting that our recommendations do not include high-wattage options, which are listed separately in their own category.

Our testing process covers a range of aspects, including lux/distance, lumens (total output), and more. You can find a detailed breakdown of our test results in our comprehensive chart.

OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER 200 Halogen

The #1 Brightest Halogen Kit for reflectors

Best for Reflector Style Headlights in low & high beams

OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER 200

The new OSRAM NB 200 Kit offers superior lighting, even over the popular Sylvania Silverstar Ultras, which could be due to the very simple change of the tip of the bulb which is reflective.

Low beam performance was great, and high-beam performance was even better. Color temperature was on-par with other performance halogen kits, although weren’t quite as white as the Silverstar Ultras for some reason, but they were close.

We are in the process of testing the lifespan, so we can't comment there yet, but we expect around 500hrs depends on use, which is like other upgrade kits. Once we complete this test however, we'll post and update.

  • 4.2 Star Overall Rating
  • +44% More Low-Beam Light (536 Peak Hotspot/Distance vs 373 for Stock @ 25ft)
  • 1740 Lumens/bulb (vs 1564 for Stock)
  • 3550k Color Temperature vs 3425k for Stock
  •  Lifespan: N/A (testing)

Sylvania Silverstar Ultra Halogen

Runner Up - The Brightest Halogen Kit for reflectors

Best for Reflector Style Headlights in low & high beams

Sylvania Silverstar Ultra

While the OSRAM NB 200's are our #1 pick, the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's were a close 2nd. They are more accessible at your local auto parts store, so we wanted to provide an additional choice for another great set in your headlights. Not many bulbs exceeded the 500 lux barrier in the low beam, but the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras hit a peak of 507 lux. They also come with a benefit of a whiter color, as they just have a cleaner looking beam. As always, a highly recommended product.

  • 3.8 Star Overall Rating
  • +36% More Low-Beam Light (507 Peak Hotspot/Distance vs 373 for Stock @ 25ft)
  • 1626 Lumens/bulb (vs 1564 for Stock)
  • 3675k Color Temperature vs 3425k for Stock
  •  Lifespan: 458hrs (Ok)

Flosser Ultra +90%

Runner Up - The Brightest Halogen Kit for Projectors

Best for Projector Style Headlights

Flosser Ultra +90%

These bulbs come from a small German company, and do not disappoint in their output at 23% additional low beam light, and 38% additional high beam distance. They include a small partial blue coating seemingly in the correct place to produce a whiter color of 3600k. Available in all of the primary sizes.

Flosser High Wattage Rally Halogen

The Absolute Brightest High-wattage halogens for any Style Headlights

Flosser 100W Rally/High-Wattage

The Flosser brand is located in Germany, and is a small company that produces very competitive products. Their high-wattage brand ranges from 70W-120W, depending on the bulb type, you can find 100W in most sizes.

These bulbs tested about double that of standard halogens in a low-beam reflector, which is far brighter than anything else we have tested. High-beam output was 69% higher over a standard 55W bulb.

Projector tests were 61 and 26% for low and high beams, respectively. This is where other halogens struggle, but not the Flosser Rally 100W!

Color temperature is about on par with a standard halogen, so don't look for any whiter color here.

With everything said, the drawback to these bulbs is the higher wattage usage. While it's not a big deal for a vehicle with an alternator, they do heat up much higher than a standard wattage bulb. While OE-grade headlight assemblies can withstand the higher heat, the connectors typically heat up more as they get closer to the bulb, and run more amps through the wires. Upgrading to a CERAMIC CONNECTOR is a great way to help eliminate these problems, but keep the risks in mind when upgrading, and check on the components post installation to ensure your vehicle can handle them.

  • 6.7 Star Overall Rating (Reflector), 5.4 Star for Projector
  • +97% (Reflector) / +61% (Projector) Low-Beam Light
  • 86% More Total Lumens/kit
  • 3400k Color Temperature vs 3425k for Stock
  •  Lifespan: N/A (testing)
  • $20 - $34 Cost

Philips Diamond Vision Halogen

The Best 'Xenon Look' Upgrade for any Style Headlights

Philips Diamond Vision

This upgrade kit won't win you any brightness awards, but it will look as good or better than vehicles that feature xenon bulbs in terms of the color. It has an astonishing pure white color temperature of about 5500k based on our tests, while being much brighter than other models like the PIAA xenon models. If you want a less 'blue' tone kit, check out the OSRAM Cool Blue Hyper or Cool Blue Boost, as those sit a bit under 5000k, and are a bit brighter than this kit.

  • 0.6 Star Overall Rating (Reflector)
  • -28% (Reflector) / -37% (Projector) Low-Beam Light
  • 51% Less Total Lumens/kit
  • 5500k Color Temperature vs 3425k for Stock
  •  Lifespan: 824hrs (Very Good)
  • $20 - $34 Cost
